Dubrovnik-Port City in South Croatia - May 21-23

Dubrovnik is an old town that has preserved medieval walls from the 15th century. It is especially popular for tourists because it was the main site for filming a series called "Game of Thrones." The walls and rooftops are still being rebuilt after the Croatian War of Independence. The war with Yugoslavia lasted from 1991-1995. People still live within the city. Our guide said that it is not easy to live in the city. There are no cars, grocery stores, all stone streets and lots of steps! Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. There are many shops, restaurants, and homes within the city.  Beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea.   Yes! We walked the wall in Old Town Dubrovnik!  Ivana, our private tour guide, for "the Old Town" of Dubrovnik.  Cave Bar at our hotel.  This fine dining restaurant is called #44. We had a 3 man band play. The accordion reminded me of our heritage so we asked them to play a polka. Todd, Renie, Mike and I danced! It spurred others to dance too!

Adriatic Sea PLUNGE. You won't see me in this pic! JOHN makes it look easy peasy as he paddles around our big ship! Finished with the ride.  Parking lot in front of Hvar. Boats, Boats & More Boats! HVAR! Yummy food at FIG. This is a chicken burrito with green chile sauce. The salad had some unusual greens with apples, candied bacon & blue cheese. Just what I needed. I think Mike was happy with his hamburger and French fries! We all needed a break from the healthy Mediterranean diet!

We didn't encounter any wild boars! John says it would be A LOT of work to grow grapes here! Lovely ride today! Bored...John & Erin know way too much about winemaking. Stopped at the "donkey preserve." In the old days, donkeys were needed for labor, not so much anymore! They have a place to stay in retirement!
